WP7 - VA1 - Virtual Access

Objectives

This WP is responsible for platform usage and user experience, as well as for organising of online contents. This will be done in synergy with WP10 and WP9 which are responsible of the Community Building with the Exploratories and the management, planning and releasing of the e-infrastructure and VREs.

Tasks

T7.1 Virtual Access
Task leader: CNR
Participants: EGI
The web portal will give to the user the possibility of navigate and discover datasets and services by means of real applications and case studies as part of the exploratories developed in WP10. All the resources metadata will be accessible through the web interface for free and anonymously but to access to the actual resources of the e-infrastructure will require a free registration (using ad hoc or academic/social credentials supported by the EOSC portal). This registration will not require any moderation by the system administrators and will be used in order to keep track of the resource usage and statistical purpose. With a monthly-based periodicity, aggregated data on resources usages will be posted on the web-based portal thus allowing scientists to assess resource usage in a very open and collaborative way. The WP will set up and maintain a dedicated dashboard page for the European Commission to have access to the detailed indicators. Moreover, scientists will be able to register their resources and make them available to peers in order to enhance discovery, access, and discussion processes. Notification mechanisms can proactively inform interested (subscribed users) of the registration (hence  vailability) of new resources in the e-infrastructure. Specific VREs about the Exploratories will be extended to enable easy-to-use access to resources. Those resources will be Datasets, Algorithms and Applications implemented as libraries for local execution and as services in the cloud of the e-infrastructure. Training Modules, will also be made available, with the same modalities, on the web portal. In particular the libraries and services will be grouped as:
- Social media analysis and crowd-sensing services,
- Text and Social Media Mining services
- Complex Network Analysis Mining services
- Human Mobility Analytics services
- Web Analytics services
- Visual Analytics services
- Privacy Enhancing Technology and Discrimination preventing services
- Explainable AI services
- Scalable machine learning services
The design and integration of resources will be done in WP4 for the training modules, in WP8 for the datasets, libraries and services. In the description of those WPs there are examples of the resources which will be provided. The tools available to the users to discover, search, use and execute resources will be developed (or upgraded from the existing one) by WP9 such as the catalogue and on-line coding and workflow design tool and will be part of the web portal designed by the WP7. This WP will liaise with dissemination and outreach WPs to attract new potential users for local infrastructure sites. To this aim, it will have a dedicated area in the project’s website aiming at offering an updated description of the e-Infrastructure capacities (e.g. number and typologies of federated resources) and its current exploitation (i.e. the number of Virtual Research Environments created, number of registered users, outstanding results, latest posts).
